the name behind the blog

I wish I weren't so curious.
I'm a political science major who graduated and pursued a career entirely unrelated to my degree. Despite that, my passion always was alive in an area that impacts our everyday lives: food. I love food. I consider celebrities to be chefs like Stephanie Izard & Graham Elliot. I like cooking, grocery shopping, and my idea of a great night is a bottle of wine over fantastic food. However, I'm also a curious person...to a fault. I took a Politics of Food course my freshman year in college (over 6 years ago!) and it has stuck with me. It's where I first read Fast Food Nation and saw Super Size Me. I wrote a thesis paper in high school about child obesity. I find the way food impacts our society and vice versa just fascinating. I've leisurely read books, watched documentaries, and subscribed to blogs on the issue. Finally, I had my ah-ha moment and realized that perhaps it's time for me to share my findings and opinion with other curious people. I find that most people care about their health and nutrition but only understand the surface level behind the food they ingest. There is a lot more behind what we eat than just the calories. And the truth hurts.
My belief is that we should put the best available things in our body. Yet, there are a lot of complicated variables that allow us to find, eat, and shop the best available products. My hope is to share the why, the how, the obstacles, the rewards, and my discoveries surrounding one of America's greatest pastimes: food. My hope is that we can be educated enough to live a healthy lifestyle that promotes peace, love, and produce.
